Title: Science Education Training Developer
This is an academic wage appointment that will end November 30, 2012
Salary: $24-$32 per hour, depending on experience
Location: This position is located in Portland, Oregon.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE POSITION
Develop set of training materials for elementary, middle and high school teachers as part of a professional development program. The subject of the training materials will be how to use of the engineering design process to enhance the learning of science consistent with the Oregon Science Standards. The training materials will contribute to the goals of the program as a whole and will complement other elements of the program, including a set of primers that will be used to by teachers as a tutorial and reference and a sample set of exercises that students can use to learn science content using the engineering design process.
MINIMUM (REQUIRED) QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in education, science or engineering and five years of experience in designing and writing educational training materials, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
SPECIAL (PREFERRED) QUALIFICATIONS
- Five years of experience in developing educational training materials for K-12 science educators
- Several years of experience teaching science at the middle-school or high-school level
- Experience training teachers or conducting professional development workshops for teachers
- Experience in teaching or writing about engineering or technology or experience as a practicing scientist or engineer.
