Location: This position is located in Portland, Oregon 


The Chancellor serves as chief executive officer of the Board of Higher Education for the Oregon University System. The Vice Chancellor for Academic Strategies reports to the Chancellor, with primary responsibility for academic programs, strategic planning, performance measurement, institutional research, student success, P-16 alignment, and research and economic development.

The Executive Assistant provides confidential executive level administrative support to the Vice Chancellor for Academic Strategies and administrative support for the department of Academic Standards and Collaborations. Employee has access to confidential personnel information on staff within the Academic Strategies Division and is required to hold that information in strictest confidence. 


  • Bachelor’s degree or 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of training and experience in order to perform functions with a high degree of independence;

  • Advanced skills in microcomputer software applications (e.g., Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel).


  • In-depth knowledge organizational structure and practices in higher education, education, or other public entities;

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to develop and maintain effective working relationships with other administrative staff, Board members, legislators, institution representatives, and the general public;

  • Basic ability to support televideo meetings, internet presentations and communications programs (for example, Adobe Connect, Go To Meeting, Skype, etc.), and update content on division webpages as needed;

  • Initiative to perform whatever work is needed to meet timelines and expectations;

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and to exercise tact and diplomacy in all work, including sensitive issues.
