Account Code for Recording Institutional Contributed Capital
OSU has requested the ability to separately track institutional contributed capital from earned capital. Contributed capital results from institutional funding of an institutional financial entity (such as a service center). The institutional contributed capital account code identifies institutionally-provided start-up funds, and additional institutionally-provided contributed capital such as year end funding to eliminate a negative fund balance.
The account code would be used in circumstances where institutions need to know how much of an ending fund balance is contributed capital and how much is earned capital. A typical example might be an internal service center.
Use of the institutional contributed capital account code is optional. The institutional contributed capital account code is populated by a reclassification of the D0010 Fund Balance account code.
Currently UO has account code "D0110 - Inst Contributed Capital Reserve;" however, the UO account code is not baseline and other institutions have used account code D0110 for other purposes. This new account code for institutional contributed capital would replace account code D0110 at UO.
After some consideration, the following proposal was derived and is being presented for review and approval.
