PORTLAND, January 24, 2008 – In an effort to assist Oregon community college students to successfully transition to a four-year college or university, the Oregon Transfer Days Task Force was formed fall 2007. Representatives from Oregon's community colleges, public and private four-year universities have been collaborating to redesign a state-wide tour to all seventeen Oregon community colleges.
“There’s a common understanding and imperative that Oregon must increase its educational attainment rates in order to ensure a diverse, highly skilled population in the state,” said Michele Sandlin, chair of the Oregon Transfer Days task force. Oregon's two-year and four year schools are committed to working together to best serve Oregon's community college students and help them achieve their educational and career goals while also meeting the state’s economic needs.
The goal of the OTD Task Force is to educate community college students regarding their access to four-year baccalaureate opportunities through attending a college fair on their community college campus. To ensure the success of each community college fair, the OTD task force worked with participating community colleges to design a common structure for these events on all campuses. Additionally, a state-wide branding identity was created that represents Oregon Transfer Days purpose, and to attract more community college students to explore four-year transfer opportunities as well represent all state institutions. The OTD tour will be aligned and centrally administered at the state level.
The Oregon Transfer Days tour is scheduled to begin in late January and conclude in late February. Below is the schedule of campus transfer events.
