Students are encouraged to mark their calendars for the OIT Campus Plan, the first stop in a state admissions tour

Portland, OR: September 23, 2010 – Admissions representatives from all seven Oregon public universities will host a presentation to eight Klamath-area high schools on September 27th on the Oregon Institute of Technology (OIT) campus to engage and inspire local high school students to explore their many degree opportunities at Oregon campuses. The Klamath Falls event will be the first presentation statewide kicking off a month-long Visitation Program, also known as the “Fall Tour.” Admissions staff in the tour travel across the state to reach about 16,000 high school students with key information on campus options and admissions at the Oregon University System (OUS).

Students from Bonanza, Chiloquin, Henley, Hosanna Christian, Klamath Union, Lost River, Triad, Mazama High Schools will convene on Monday the 27th at the following time and location for the “Campus Plan” presentation. The OIT Campus Plan presentation will be held Monday, September 27, 2010, 9:00 a.m. at the OIT College Union, 3201 Campus Dr., Klamath Falls. Students and school leaders are encouraged to mark their calendars to be sure they don’t miss this fun and inspiring event. Local high schools not currently on the schedule as well as home schooled students are encouraged to attend.

Now a longstanding and relied-upon tradition, the public universities have coordinated the Fall Tour for over 25 years, and the presentations from September 27th-October 29th are important events for 238 Oregon high schools across the state.   Ginny Gardiner, admissions director at OIT, said "This is fantastic opportunity for students living in proximity to the Klamath Basin to visit OIT and meet with representatives from all seven of Oregon's public universities.  There is nothing like a face-to-face conversation to help students navigate the wide array of degree options, financial aid opportunities and campus cultures that await them."

Participating students will hear a 2-hour presentation about the unique offerings of Oregon’s public institutions as well as admissions guidelines, financial aid information, college costs, and college requirements that can help and inspire them while planning for the future. They will also have the opportunity to ask questions, talk to campus representatives, and receive campus materials including the OUS Viewbook. The Viewbook, also available online,is an introductory brochure for prospective freshman and transfer students and provides a comprehensive overview of Oregon's public university options, including profiles of each institution, a listing of all academic programs, as well as information on applying, costs, deadlines, and financial aid opportunities.

The responsibility for coordinating the Fall Tour currently rotates among OUS campuses every two years, with the University of Oregon coordinating the events for 2010.  For more information on the OIT Campus Plan, contact Bettina Burns at 541-261-4371 bettina.burns@oit.edu.
