Dr. Gregory Hamann was appointed president of Clatsop Community College in July of 2003. Prior to coming to Astoria, Dr. Hamann served as Dean of Administration at Northwest College in Wyoming.
Born on a dairy farm in Minnesota, Dr. Hamann earned his bachelor's degree in psychology and social studies at the University of Minnesota. Having taught middle school for a year, he earned his master's degree in counseling/psychology at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, Illinois.
He managed a counseling and residence life program for three years at Bethel College near Saint Paul, Minnesota, then worked for 12 years at Whitworth College in Spokane, Washington in student services, activities and administration.
While at Whitworth, he earned his doctorate in educational leadership from Gonzaga University and having fallen in love with the northwest followed a job opportunity to Northwest College in the northwest corner of Wyoming.
An avid runner, he runs rain or shine and Dr. Hamann and his wife are enjoying living on the coast and getting to know the communities of the lower Columbia/coast region.
