George A. Marlton
Director of Purchasing and Contract Services, Oregon University System
George A. Marlton was appointed the Director of Purchasing and Contract Services for the Oregon University System in July 2007. Previously he served as a law clerk in the OUS Office of Legal Affairs from October 2003 to December 2005 and Contracts Manager from January 2007 to June 2007.
As Director of Purchasing and Contract Services, Mr. Marlton is responsible for soliciting, negotiating, and managing Chancellor’s Office, OUS System-wide, and cooperative contracts with other state agencies; and providing technical assistance to staff at the Chancellor’s Office and the seven OUS institutions regarding contract matters, affirmative action plans, debt collection, long-range capital construction projects, and administers the OUS Emerging Small Business Program.
Mr. Marlton earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of Oregon in Eugene, Oregon. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Society and Justice and Political Science from the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington. Mr. Marlton is licensed as an attorney in Washington State.
