Timothy J. Nesbitt, Portland, was appointed to the Oregon State Board of Higher Education in January 2004.
He has previously served as Executive Director of the Oregon State Council of Service Employees International Union (SEIU), Assistant Executive Director of the Oregon Public Employees Union of SEIU, Executive Director of Local 616, SEIU in Oakland, California, and Field Representative and Public Information Officer for Local 616 in Oakland, California. He is a member of the Employment Department Advisory Committee, and has served on governor-appointed task forces on workers' compensation and health care reform and the state legislature's Tax Incidence Advisory Committee from 1999-2001. He previously served on the Board of the Ballot Initiative Strategy Center in Washington, D.C., was co-founder of the Oakland Study Center in Oakland, California, and has worked as a freelance researcher and journalist.
Mr. Nesbitt holds a BA in Journalism from St. Bonaventure University in New York, NY.
His term expires in 2008.
