January 14, 2000 PORTLAND -- A senior Portland area industry manager for college recruiting and internships has been appointed as the new director of the Oregon Graduate Engineering Internship Program (OGEIP). He is Tom Corrigan, former director of university relations for Tektronix, Inc. OGEIP is a partnership program operated by the Oregon University System. It offers competitive high tech internships for graduate level students enrolled in engineering and computer science disciplines at Portland State University, Oregon State University, the University of Oregon and the Oregon Graduate Institute of Science and Technology. The program also recruits high tech companies to place students, develop projects with academics, and attract the state's top engineering and computer science graduates to jobs in Oregon's high tech industry. "Tom Corrigan brings exceptional experience and knowledge to OGEIP, " said Bob Dryden, OUS vice chancellor for engineering and computer science. "He helped build Tek's college recruiting program, attracting some 100 new hires and 50 interns each year. He understands what industry needs and the skill set which students must have to be successful in internship and job placements." Corrigan holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin and a master's in student personnel services from the University of Denver. He has held human resources and management positions as assistant director of placement at the University of Denver; college relations representative, 3M Company; college relations manager and university relations director, Tektronix, Inc.; assistant vice president, manager of employment, vice president and director of human resources, First Interstate Bank of Oregon; vice president and regional human resources manager, First Interstate Services Company; and as senior associate, Sloan, Silver, Floren & Martyn of Portland.
