Branch Campus Award Tops State Board Friday Agenda
EUGENE - Award of management responsibility for the Oregon's first university branch campus tops the agenda for Friday's (Feb. 16, 2001) meeting of the State Board of Higher Education in Corvallis.
Discussion of the branch campus award will take place during a special Committee of the Whole meeting, scheduled to begin at 8:45 a.m. Friday in Ballroom A/B of Oregon State University's CH2M-Hill Alumni Center. A final vote on the award is expected later during the Board's regular meeting that begins at 12:15 p.m. in the same location.
The Oregon University System has recommended that Oregon State University be awarded management of the new Central Oregon branch. The branch will be located on the campus of Central Oregon Community College in Bend and, pending legislative approval of $7.2 million in operating funds, will open next fall.
Also on the agenda for Friday's meeting is a discussion of the state's higher education budget for 2001-2003, a report on OUS federal priorities for FY 2002, and a proposal to initiate a new Pacific Institute of Natural Sciences at Southern Oregon University.
Several committee meetings and a campus open forum will precede the Committee of the Whole and full board meetings.
The forum begins at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 15, 2001 in Ballroom C of the OSU Alumni Center. It will provide an opportunity for OSU students, faculty and staff to address individual questions to board members.
Both the Budget and Finance Committee and the System Strategic Planning Committee will meet Friday morning from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. The budget committee is scheduled to meet in Ballroom A/B and the SSP meeting will take place in Room 111 A/B.
All of the meetings are open to the public.
