Portland, OR, July 9 – George Pernsteiner, chancellor of the Oregon University System, announced today that two of the three finalists for the Oregon Institute of Technology presidency have withdrawn from the selection process, Dr. Daniel J. Bradley, and Dr. Donald H. Sebastian. The remaining candidate, Dr. Christopher G. Maples, is still under consideration, and will meet with Board of Higher Education members and the chancellor during the week of July 14th.
Dr. Bradley accepted another presidency at Indiana State University, which was announced by the institution on June 24. In a letter to the chancellor, Dr. Sebastian noted that work on longstanding projects in New Jersey would require his continued involvement for an extended period of time and he did not want OIT to have to “wait for their next president for an indeterminate period.” Both candidates thanked the OIT community for welcoming them to the campus, and giving them a chance to learn more about the institution, its needs, and the greater needs of higher education in the state.
“We appreciate both Dr. Bradley’s and Dr. Sebastian’s consideration of the presidency of OIT, and the time they spent with us throughout the interviews and campus visitation process,” said Pernsteiner. “We wish them success in their next endeavors in the higher education field.”
