PORTLAND - Oregon Institute of Technology's Metro Center Campus in Milwaukie is getting a new, partial owner.
The State Board of Higher Education Friday approved the sale of 14,000 square feet within the building to Clackamas Community College. CCC will acquire the part-ownership at a cost of about $1.7 million. The space has been leased by CCC to conduct its educational programs at the Center.
OIT purchased the Center in 1991 and renovated the space leased to CCC in 1998 at a cost of $1.25 million.
In other action Friday, the Board:
Authorized Eastern Oregon University to seek approval from the State Emergency Board for construction of a new $4.3 million building. EOU and the Oregon Department of Human Resources proposed joint use of the building for classes and offices, and
Approved transfer of the clinical laboratory science and paramedic education academic programs from Oregon Health and Sciences University to management by OIT in the Portland area. The transfer will take place in September if a final memorandum of understanding between the two institutions is approved by the chancellor.
