| July 20, 2001 Contact: Bob Bruce, 503-725-5714 Fall Tuition Increases at OUS Campuses PORTLAND - For the first time in five years, Oregon resident undergraduate students will see an increase in tuition this fall at the state's seven public universities. The State Board of Higher Education approved an increase Friday in adopting final tuition and fee rates for the 2001-2002 academic year. Tuition will go up by an average of 4 percent on all the campuses of the Oregon University System. But other fee adjustments -- including inflationary costs for student activities, health services and a new energy surcharge at five campuses -- will bring total tuition and fee costs up from 4.4 to 9.5 percent depending upon enrollment status and campus choice. Under the new rates, total tuition and fee costs for resident undergraduates will range from $3,555 per year at Southern Oregon University, Ashland, to $4,071 per year at the University of Oregon, Eugene. Total tuition and fees for the new Oregon State University Cascades Campus, opening this fall in Bend, will be $3,576 per year for resident undergraduates and $7,002 per year for resident graduate students.
