Former State Treasurer Nominated for State Board
SALEM - Former State Treasurer Jim Hill has been nominated by Governor John Kitzhaber to fill an unexpired term on the State Board of Higher Education.
The appointment, subject to confirmation by the Oregon Senate, will fill a vacancy created by the recent resignation of Tom Imeson, who has served on the Board since 1995. Imeson, a Portland business consultant, is in the final year of a second four-year term. His term expires in 2003.
Hill is a former Democratic candidate for governor, two term state treasurer and member of the Legislature. He served in the Oregon House from 1983 to 1987 and in the State Senate from 1987 to 1993 before being elected to the treasurer's office. He has also held posts as an assistant attorney general; corporate accounts manager at Mentor Graphics; director of marketing at PEN-NOR Inc.; consultant with State Farm Insurance; and hearing referee with the Oregon Department of Revenue.
Hill holds a B.A. degree in economics from Michigan State University, M.B.A. and J.D. degrees from Indiana University.
