EMPLOYEE DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES |
This site is designed to help employees and employers locate opportunities for updating their knowledge and skills. Each 2- and 4-year college/university offers professional development programs and services, typically through continuing education/extended education offices. Programs may take the form of degree minors, certificates, licensure programs, workshops, colloquiums, and "just-in-time" seminars. Many programs offer college credit which may be required to renew professional licenses. (Oregon licensing boards are listed below.) Many noncredit opportunities are available as well. The delivery method of programs and services are varied. Instruction at the employer's site, on-campus instruction, and delivery via instructional technology (for example, computers, interactive television) are commonly used. Employers interested in contracting for specific educational needs (tailor-made programs) should contact the continuing education offices at postsecondary institutions.
