B.S. in Ultrasound Authorization to Award an Honorary Doctorate, OIT
This proposed degree, comprised of two options, would prepare graduates for immediate
employment, prepare graduates to sit for the national certification examination in these fields, and
promote lifelong learning as these professions mandate continuing education to maintain
certification.
OIT seeks authorization to grant an honorary doctorate to Mark O. Hatfield. Senator Hatfield has
spent decades working for the improvement of health, education, and social service programs.

Resolution Regarding Name Change for Colleges
Board action on this item would support the legislation being introduced in the 1997 Legislature
to change the name of EOSC, SOSC, and WOSC to Eastern Oregon University, Southern
Oregon University, and Western Oregon University.

Reorganization of PSU's School of Urban & Public Affairs, Renaming to College of Urban &
Public Affairs Faculty Work
PSU is reporting on a reorganization and renaming of the School of Urban & Public Affairs to
increase academic visibility and efficiency and to reduce administrative infrastructure. Three units
-- the School of Government, the School of Urban Studies and Planning, and the School of
Community Health -- are involved.
