SOU requests Board approval of their revised mission statement and vision.

B.S. in Health Sciences, OIT
The proposed program would provide students with additional options, including preparation for
entry to medical school and health-related professional and graduate programs, and broader
employment opportunities.
Ph.D. in Radiation Health Physics, OSU
The proposed program, which focuses on the protection of humans and their environment from
the harmful effects of radiation, would be the only program of its kind in the Pacific Northwest.
Regional need for individuals with this degree is high, with employment options in both public
and private sectors.
CONSENT ITEMS
Resolution Regarding Classified Information for U.S. Department of Defense, OSU
This routine item, which is identical to previous resolutions except for date and name changes, is
for compliance with the U.S. Department of Defense Industrial Security Manual requirements.

B.S. in Computer Science & Mathematics (Joint Major), WOU
The proposed joint major in computer science and mathematics is in response to both student and
industry need.
B.S. in American Sign Language Studies - Teacher Education, WOU
The recognition of American Sign Language (ASL) as a language and increased student interest
in the field have combined to create a need for highly trained teachers. This ASL degree would
address these needs.

Status Report on OSSHE's Response to Changes in the Education Professions
This status report summarizes the major changes affecting the education profession and
OSSHE's programs, particulary since the passage of the Educational Act for the 21st Century.
One Year Later: The Status of 1994-95 OSSHE Bachelor's Graduates
This report covers the activities of 1994-95 baccalaureate graduates from the seven OSSHE
institutions one year after graduation. More than 80 percent are employed, approximately one in
five is continuing their education, and about four percent are not working but are seeking
employment. Other findings such as major areas of employment are included in this report.
