TO: MEMBERS OF THE STATE BOARD OF HIGHER EDUCATION

A regular meeting of the State Board of Higher Education will be held on Friday, June 8, 2001. Prior to this meeting, the Board's Budget and Finance and System Strategic Planning Committees will convene. All meetings will take place at Eastern Oregon University, in La Grande, Oregon, in accordance with the times, locations, and schedules listed below:

Thursday, June 7, 2001
3-4 p.m. Open Forum
Lyle Schwartz Theatre, Loso Hall

This is an opportunity for EOU students, faculty, and staff to meet with a panel of Board members to have topics of interest discussed in a public session. Beginning at 5:30 p.m., President and Mrs. Creighton are hosting a reception and dinner in Loso Hall. No Board business will be conducted at these social gatherings.

Friday, June 8, 2001
8-9:45 a.m. Budget and Finance Committee
Room 210, Ackerman Hall

The Committee will consider a sale of property by SOU and a building renaming at UO. It will also receive updates on the 2001-2003 budget and the accountability framework process.

8-9:45 a.m. System Strategic Planning Committee
Room 111, Ackerman Hall

A temporary administrative rule pertaining to residence classification of armed services personnel will be considered. UO is proposing a Master of Music degree in Intermedia Music Technology, while SOU is proposing two undergraduate certificates: (1) Botany and (2) Native American Studies. There will also be a report on the Government-to-Government Education Cluster, relating to relations between the State of Oregon and American Indian tribes in Oregon.

In addition to the regular agenda, a work session on board information systems is planned.
