TO: MEMBERS OF THE STATE BOARD OF HIGHER EDUCATION

Meetings of the Executive Committee of the State Board of Higher Education and the Education Joint Boards Working Group, as well as a System Strategic Planning Committee Work Session, will be held on Friday, May 17, 2002. In addition, a Board Executive Session will convene on Thursday, May 16, 2002. The Investment Committee meeting, originally scheduled for May 16, 2002, has been rescheduled for June 20, 2002. All meetings will take place in Portland, Oregon, in accordance with the times, locations, and schedules listed below:

Thursday, May 16, 2002
8 a.m Board Executive Session
Urban Center Building, 7th Floor Conference Room
Portland State University

The Board will meet in executive session for the purpose of interviewing finalists for the position of Chancellor. The public is excluded from participation in this meeting.

In the afternoon, the Board may convene in open session for the purpose of taking personnel action.

The Executive Committee will take action on the PSU purchase of the lone Plaza, the recommendation from the Chancellor on the naming of a building at OSU, and amendments to OAR 580-022-0030, Staff Fee Privileges, and OAR 580-022-0031, Transfer of Staff Fee Privileges.

9 a.m.-12 p.m. System Strategic Planning Committee Work Session

The purpose of the meeting is to continue the April 18, 2002, discussion regarding policy planning with the assistance of David Longanecker of the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education (WICHE).

1:30-4 p.m. Education Joint Boards Working Group

The purpose of the meeting is to discuss P-20 linkages and long term planning including access, funding, and governance issues.
