Semester Conversion Research and Information
Senate Bill 442 from the 2009 Oregon Legislative Session directed the Joint Boards of Education to conduct studies relating to several issues affecting postsecondary education, including the possibility of converting some or all of Oregon’s public postsecondary educational institutions to a semester calendar. SB 442 mandated that the Joint Boards of Education submit a report of its findings and recommendations to the appropriate interim legislative committees no later than October 1, 2010. A steering committee consisting of representatives from Oregon’s community colleges, the Oregon University System, the Department of Community Colleges & Workforce Development, and the OUS Chancellor’s Office, worked to gather and analyze information for the report that submitted to the Legislature.
The purpose of this site is to share information that was gathered during the course of the effort.
