Fire Services Administration

The Fire Services Administration degree is a cooperative venture between Western Oregon University (WOU) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency-National Fire Academy (FEMA-NFA).

Serving the Northwest and Pacific including Alaska, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Utah, Washington, Wyoming and Canada, this program is part of a nationwide independent study curriculum that allows professional fire service personnel to upgrade administrative skills, schedule studying around professional duties, and earn credit toward a bachelor's degree in Fire Services Administration.

Students who complete six courses may receive a Certificate of Completion from the National Fire Academy. Those who have received a baccalaureate degree from one of the participating institutions also receive a Certificate of Achievement from the National Fire Academy.

Secondary Education

This program leads to a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) degree qualifying for initial teacher licensure at the high school level and a graduate degree. The program begins two cohorts each year - one starting in June and one starting in January. This web-based program is designed for students who live too far from campus to attend the on-site program or who would simply like to complete the program more slowly than the full-time, on-site version. For more information about this program, contact the University Center at (541) 888-1518 or click here to go to WOU's education website.
